Women and children have borne the brunt of casualties and displacement in the ongoing US-Israel war on Iran and subsequent conflict in Lebanon. UNICEF reports that 324 children have been killed in Iran and Lebanon since the war began on 28 February 2026, with 206 children in Iran and 118 in Lebanon among the dead, while over 26,500 people have been injured, including 1,621 children and over 5,000 women in Iran alone.

In Lebanon, over one million individuals—including approximately 370,000 children—have been displaced, with women facing heightened vulnerabilities such as overcrowded shelters, limited maternal healthcare services, and increased exposure to gender-based violence. In Iran, women and girls bear significant environmental health burdens resulting from the bombing of oil and gas infrastructure, which has been associated with reproductive health complications. Simultaneously, the regime has escalated repressive measures in the name of security, including internet shutdowns and targeted suppression of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement started by the murder of Mahsa Amini.

WHO Dr. Tedros has issued another Stark Warning

“The Israeli Defence Forces have issued an evacuation order for Beirut’s Jnah area, which includes two major referral hospitals; the Rafik Hariri University Hospital and Al Zahraa Hospital. At this time, no alternative medical facilities are available to receive approximately 450 patients from the two hospitals (including 40 patients in the ICU), rendering their evacuation operationally unfeasible.

“Both facilities are operating at full capacity, including treating the injured from the strikes of 8 April. This zone also encompasses the @mophleb complex, and hosts five shelters accommodating more than 5000 people.

“I urge Israel to reverse this order and ensure the protection of all health facilities, health workers, patients and civilians,” is Dr. Tedros’ message to humanity.

On 2 April, at a solemn ceremony in Beirut, UNIFIL paid tribute to the life and work of Major Zulmi Aditya Iskandar, First Sergeant Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Corporal Farizal Rhomadon from Indonesia, who lost their lives in two incidents on March 29 and 30 while bravely carrying out their duties.

During the ceremony, Major General Abagnara, on behalf of the entire UNIFIL community, presented his heartfelt condolences to their families, to their loved ones, and to the Indonesian Armed Forces. Major General Abagnara praised the service of the three fallen peacekeepers. “They came here far from home, with one purpose—to serve peace,” he said. “They did it with courage. They did it with honor. They did it until the very end.”

*Farizal Rhomadhon (Corporal, 28 years old) was killed on March 29, 2026, when a projectile from an Israeli tank exploded near a UNIFIL position near Adchit Al-Qusayr.
Zulmi Aditya Iskandar (Major, 33 years old) and Muhammad Nur Ichwan (First Sergeant, 26 years old) were killed on March 30, 2026, when an improvised explosive device (likely placed by Hezbollah) destroyed their logistics convoy near Bani Haiyyan.

Additionally, five WHO health workers were killed in a strike in Zoutar al-Sharqiya, two paramedics died in Kfar Tibnit, one paramedic was killed in an attack at a health facility in Ghandouriyeh, and another was killed in a strike in Jezzine, according to WHO Chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on March 28, 2026.

Individuals engaged in humanitarian efforts represent a collective commitment to human welfare, transcending national and regional boundaries. It is imperative to recognize the profound sacrifices made by approximately 400 journalists and over a thousand medical professionals—doctors and nurses—who have lost their lives while delivering critical care and reporting from conflict zones in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Iran. These professionals operate without regard for geopolitical borders, guided by ethical imperatives to alleviate human suffering wherever it occurs.

And the EU focusses on its oil money.
